This 60-minute workshop will be facilitated by Bucks HSC Ventures and delivered by Jessica Morley from Oxford University DataLab.
Medical ethics and data ethics both commonly focus on the principles of: autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice. These are all important principles worthy of protection, but they are primarily intended to protect an individual from harms from another individual or organisation. When a group is threatened by a potential harm, as in the case of threats to public health, the extent to which these principles can and should be the guiding principles becomes questionable. This talk will consider this complexity, and the implications for digital health innovators.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
